ASSESSMENT
Occupational Therapy Assessment

An occupational therapy evaluation - for child or young adult - is used to assess the basic skills needed for typical everyday occupations, such as school, play, after-school activities, and self-care.

An occupational therapy assessment may focus on fine motor skills (used in writing, tying shoelaces, grooming, eating with utensils) and gross motor skills (used in running, jumping, skipping, sports), and hand / eye coordination (used in throwing a ball, threading a needle, writing).

Occupational therapy evaluation may also focus on sensory integration (the ability to integrate and correctly interpret the input of all the senses, in order to understand one's environment), as well as a variety of other skills.
